Nerve involved in parotidectomy is ?

The nerve which is commonly involved is auriculotemporal nerve leading to Frey's syndrome. There are a number of quite invasive techniques described to prevent Frey's syndrome following parotidectomy. These are: Sternomastoid muscle flap, temporalis fascial flap, inseion of aificial membrane between skin and parotid sheath. Reference : Bailey & Love, 27th Edition, page no = 794.
