A connexon is composed of six integral membrane protein(Hexamers), having subunits called connexins. Ligand-gated ion channels are made up of pentameric proteins. Voltage-gated ion channels are made up of tetrameric proteins. G-protein, ENaC are the examples of trimeric proteins.
