True about apoptosis
High-Yield Explanation
Apoptotic DNA fragmentation is a key feature of apoptosis, a type of programmed cell death. Apoptosis is characterized by the activation of endogenous endonucleases, paicularly the caspase-3 activated DNase (CAD), with subsequent cleavage of nuclear DNA into internucleosomalfragments of roughly 180 base pairs (bp) and multiples thereof (360, 540 etc.). The apoptotic DNA fragmentation is being used as a marker of apoptosis and for identification of apoptotic cells Ref guyton and hall textbook of medical physiology 12/e pg 40 and robbins 9/e pg 18
