C' in C reactive protein stands for -

An abnormal protein that precipitates with the somatic O antigen of streptococcus pneumoniae appears in the acute phase sera of pneumonia but disappear during convalescence. It is known as C-reactive protein. its apparent antibody like the rethe relationship to the C antigen of streptococcus pneumoniae is only fouitous. it is not an antibody produced as a result of pneumococcal infection.
