Clinical features of hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy Encephalopathy progress over time - Birth to 12 hours --> Decreased level of conciousness, poor tone, decreased spontaneous movement, periodic breathing or apnea, seizures. 12-24 hours --> More seizuers, Apneic spells, jitteriness, weakness. After 24 hours —> Hypotonia, conciousness, poor feeding, brainstem signs (oculomotor) and pupillary disturbances.
