Adenocarcinoma is the overall most common type of lung carcinoma.  Adenocarcinoma is the most common type of lung carcinoma in non-smokers and females.  Squamous cell (epidermoid) carcinoma is the most common type of lung carcinoma in India.  Squamous cell carcinoma is the most common type of lung carcinoma in smokers and males.
