Tacrolimus is a macrolide antibiotic, it acts by inhibiting cytokine production. It possess anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory activities. Mechanism: Tacrolimus binds to FKBP 12 and forms a complex. This then binds to calcineurin and inhibits calcineurin phosphates activity.
