As per IMNCI, a child aged 2 month to 5 years with acute respiratory infection is classified as follows: No pneumonia: A child without respiratory distress or chest indrawing Pneumonia: A child with acute respiratory tract infection with fast breathing i.e. increased respiratory rates above the normal cut off for age. Severe pneumonia: A child with pneumonia as per above definition along with chest indrawing.
