Moreover, glucose-6-phosphate cannot diffuse out of the muscles. Therefore, muscle cannot provide glucose to maintain blood glucose level. Rather, muscle glycogen acts as a source of energy; the glucose-6phosphate enters the glycolysis to produce energy.
