Locking of knee can be caused by loose bodies.impoant causes for loose bodies in the knee are : 1.non- traumatic - as in TB ahritis,rheumatoid ahritis, osteoahritis , osteochondritis dissecans, synol chondromatosis, hemahrosis& hemophilia 2.traumatic : intraaicular fracture ,meniscal injuries, organized hemahrosis , detached aicular cailage , forgein bodies * clinical features : locking episodes ,pain & effusion within knee, feelung something is moving within joint ,sense of giving away * investigation - x- ray, diagnostic ahroscopy ,MRI *treatment - ahroscopic removal of loose bodies (gold standard) Ref: Textbook of Ohopaedics, John Ebenezer, 4th edition, page no: 427
