Negative symptom of schizophrenia -

Ans. is 'c' i.e., Ambivalance o Symptoms of schizophrenia can be divided intoPositive symptoms :- Positive symptoms are psychotic symptoms not seen in normal individuals but are "actively expressed" in patient, i.e., hallucinations, delusions and bizarre motor acts. Positive symptoms are more common in acute schizophrenia. These respond well to typical antipsychotics.Negative symptoms :- Negative symptoms are normally expected behaviours, emotions (feeling), thoughts and drives that the person with schizophrenia fail to exhibit, i.e., deficit state (diminution or loss) of normal function. The prominent negative symptons are flattening or blunting of affect, anhedonia, ambivalence (avolition) asociality (social withdrawal), alogia, apathy, paucity of thought and poverity of speech. Negative symptoms are more common in chronic schizophrenia. Negative symptoms do not respond well to typical antipsychotics - Therefore patient on typical antipsychotics may show improvement of positive symptoms and persistent of negative symptoms.o More recently a third category has been proposed.Disorganized symptoms :- Disorganized speech/thinking, and disorganized behavior.
