Certain chemicals like puromycin, ethionine, carbon tetrachloride, chloroform inhibits protein synthesis causing fatty liver. Ethionine competes with methionine and traps the available adenosine-thus reducing ATP levels. Lipotropic factors helps in preventing fatty liver.
