Loading dose : 2mg/kg/hour, maintenance dose: 1 mg/kg/hour.b) Nevirapine single dose at onset of labor and a single dose of it to the newborn at age 48 - 72 hours is an effective alternative treatment for women who had no prior therapy.c) Elective LSCS is preferred over vaginal delivery as it cuts the risk of transmission by around 50% and also breastfeeding is better avoided.Note: Nevirapine is preferred over zidovudine as it has fewer side effectso Efavirenz is avoided in 1 st trimester due to teratogenicity.
