Feature of Zn def: Growth failure • Sexual infantilism • Impaired immunity • Decreased insulin synthesis • Delayed wound healing • Loss of taste (Aguesia) • Liver disease (Hepatomegaly + Splenomegaly), Pernicious anemia, Thalassemia, Myocardial infarction • Megaloblastic anemia (due to reduced absorption of Folyl-glutamates) • Maternal zinc deficiency: Spontaneous abortion, Congenital malformation (Anencephaly), Low birth weight, IUGR, Preterm delivery.
