Decision regarding surgery for haemothorax due to blunt trauma chest is based on the hemodynamic status of the patient & whether features of shock present or not.Treatment usually consists of ICT placement in the mid -axillary line in the 6th intercoastal space.Thoracotomy is done when ICT shows persistent drainage /hourly collection of 200-300 ml or initial chest tube output of 1500 ml of blood .
