Drugs causing hypokalemia-furosemide, amphotericin B, salbutamol, cisplatin, hydrochlorothiazide Amphotericin B: Acute reaction of amphotericin B excess- symptoms include chills, fever, aches, pain, nausea, vomiting, and dyspnoea lasting for 2-5 hours due to the release of cytokines (IL, TNF alpha). Injection of hydrocoisone 0.6 mg/kg with the infusion may reduce the intensity of reaction. Thrombophlebitis of the injected vein can occur. Long term toxicity Nephrotoxicity is the most Impoant.
