It is a superficial infection of the skin caused by C. minutissimum involving the toe clefts, groins, axillae and the intergluteal and submammary region. It responds well to most topically applied azole antifungal agents. For more extensive lesions, erythromycin is most effective. Note: Ecthyma is cause by streptococcus.
