Genital herpes - Infection of the genitals caused by HSV. Either have no or mild symptoms. Blisters break open to form painful ulcers. Flu-like symptoms, such as fever, aching, or swollen lymph nodes. Onset is within 4 days after exposure with symptoms lasting up to 4 weeks. Antiviral medications, such as acyclovir, valacyclovir, may prevent outbreaks or shoen outbreaks if they occur.
