Rosenthal fibers are thick, elongated, "corkscrew" eosinophilic bundles that are found on H&E staining of the brain. They are seen in the presence of long-standing gliosis, pilocytic astrocytoma, Alexander's disease (a rare leukodystrophy) and fucosidosis.
