Glaucoma associated with uveitis is one of the most difficult complications to address and manage. Medical therapy with topical or systemic antiglaucoma medications is the first step in the treatment of glaucoma-associated uveitis P-blockers, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (acetamezolanzide), and dipivefrine. β-blockers are the drug of choice. Among antiglaucoma medications, prostaglandin analogues (e.g. latanoprost) should not be used as they breakdown the blood aqueous barrier and may exacerbate cystoid macular edema.
