A 25 year old lady presented with sadness, palpitation, loss of appetite and insomnia. There is no complaint of hopelessness, suicidal thoughts and there is no past history of any precipitating event. She is remarkably well in other areas of life. She is doing her office job normally and her social life is also normal. What is the probable diagnosis in this case?

A i.e. Generalized anxiety disorder Because of lack of identifiable stressor, this is not a case of adjustment disorder. Presence of palpitation (autonomic symptom) rules out minor depression and mixed anxiety depression disorder. So only left option is GAD. But still I think this Q is incomplete. Her normal social & occupational life also indicates GAD as this is not included in ICD-10 of GAD.
