Narchi HI He studied the value of routine neonatal electrocardiography (ECG) in the 1st 48 hours of life to diagnose congenital hea disease in 37 neonates with Down syndrome. 60% infants had no clinical evidence of congenital hea disease, had normal ECGs and normal cardiac anatomy on echocardiography. About 40% children with down syndrome have congenital hea disease. Endocardial cushion defect (ASD with ostium primum) account for 40-60% of cases.
