Malignant tumors that metastasize to the ovary are almost invariably bilateral. The term Krukenberg tumor refers to a metastatic mucinous/signet ring cell adenocarcinoma of the ovaries that typically originates from primary tumors of the intestinal tract, characteristically the stomach.
