Cells involved in interstitial cystitis?

Cystitis is characterized by intense neutrophilic exudate admixed with lymphocytes and macrophages. There is edema and congestion of mucosa. Ref: Harsh Mohan textbook of pathology 6th edition page 699. INTERSTITIAL CYSTITIS (HUNNER'S ULCER). This variant of cystitis occurs in middle-aged women. The patients get repeated attacks of severe and excruciating pain on distension of the bladder, frequency of micturition and a great decrease in bladder capacity. Cystoscopy often reveals a localized ulcer. The etiology of the condition is unknown but it is thought to be neurogenic in origin. Microscopically, the submucosa and muscle coat show increased fibrosis and chronic inflammatory infiltrate, chiefly lymphocytes, plasma cells, and eosinophils.
