BLOOD SUPPLY OF FEMORAL HEAD:- The head of femur is paly supplied by a branch of obturator aery along the ligamentum teres.Main aerial supply is from retinacular aeries, branch of medial circumflex femoral aery.These aeries get injured in intracapsular fracture neck of femur, leading to avascular necrosis of the head. In such cases hip joint need to be replaced. {Reference: BDC 6E pg no.19}
