pH of Sabouraud's Dextrose Agar is adjusted to:

A
6-Apr
B
2-Jan
C
8-Jun
D
10-Aug
High-Yield Explanation
Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) contains digests of animal tissues (peptones) which provide a nutritious source of amino acids and nitrogenous compounds for the growth of fungi and yeasts. The pH is adjusted to approximately 5.6 in order to enhance the growth of fungi, especially dermatophytes, and to slightly inhibit bacterial growth in clinical specimens. High dextrose concentration and low pH favours fungal growth and inhibits contaminating bacteria from test samples.
