Halothane is considered a potent bronchodilator, as it often reverses asthma-induced bronchospasm. This action is not inhibited by b-adrenergic blocking agents. Halothane attenuates airway reflexes and relaxes bronchial smooth muscle by inhibiting intracellular calcium mobilization.
