Chalky white disc is seen in primary optic atrophy. Trauma to optic nerve, Tabes dorsalis (syphilis), and Leber's hereditary neuritis can cause primary optic atrophy.
In post papilledematous (Secondary) optic atrophy the disc is pale or dirty/ grey disc.
