Epipharynx/Nasopharynx The pa of the pharynx that lies above the soft palate; anteriorly it opens into the nasal cavities through the choanae; inferiorly, it communicates with the oropharynx through the pharyngeal isthmus; laterally it communicates with tympanic cavities through pharyngotympanic (auditory) tubes.
