All are true about Hemolytic uremic syndrome except?

Positive Coombs test is seen with autoimmune hemolytic anemia but in H.U.S microangiopathic hemolytic anemia is seen. The entrapment of platelets in micro-thrombi formed in small blood vessels leads to thrombocytopenia. The consumption of clotting factors due to initiation of coagulation cascade leads to hypofibrinogenemia. Hemolytic uremic syndrome- characterized by the triad of microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and acute renal failure which explains uremia.
