True about febrile convulsions is –

Febrile seizures Febrile convulsions are the commonest cause of seizures during early childhood. Febrile seizures are defined as seizures which occur during fever. Mostly occurs between 6 months to 5 years. The convulsions are not related to the degree of temperature rise but are frequent if the temperature rises abruptly. Spontaneous remission occurs with no postictal neurological deficit and EEG changes few days after the seizure is normal. Recurrent febrile seizures occur in 30-50% of cases. More than 90% of febrile seizures are generalized. Acute respiratory illness is most commonly associated with febrile seizures.
