In ESI, employee contributes..... % of wages-

(A) (1.75%) (7.60 Park 22nd)* The employer contributes 4.75% of total wages the employee contributes 1.75% of wages.* The state government's share of expenditure on medical care is 1/8 of total cost of medical care. The ESI corporation's share of expenditure on medical care is 7/8 of total cost of medical care.* ESI act of 1975 were extended to the following new classes of establishments.(a) Small factories employing 10 or more persons weather power is used in the process of manufacturing or not(b) Shops;(c) Hotels and restaurants;(d) Cinemas and theatres;(e) Road-motor transport establisments; and(f) Newspaper establishments.(g) The scheme has been extended to private medical and educational institutions employing 20 or more persons in some states.With effect from 1.5.2010 the Act covers all employees - manual clerical, supervisory and technical getting upto Rs. 15,000 per month. The daily rate being about 50% of the average daily wages.Extended sickness benefit:In addition 91 days of sickness benefit insured persons suffering from certain long term disease are entitled to extended sickness benefit. For a maximum period of two years.Enhanced sickness benefit: is payable to insured women for 14 days for tubectomy and male for 7 days in case of vasectomy at full wages.* Maximum hours of work per week prescribed under the factories act in - 48.* Total hours of work in a week including overtime shall not exceed 60 hours (Maximum permissible).
