Rupture of tendo-achillis whether spontaneons or traumatic should be treated by surgical repair as soon as possible after injury. Ununited tendon produces severe disability in walking as the push off is lost. If repaired later fascial or tendon graft has to be used to bridge the gap and post operative recovery is slow and end result is less than perfect.
