The speciation of coagulase-negative Staphylococcus is necessary for ceain culture specimens. Coagulase-negative staphylococci can either be resistant or susceptible to novobiocin. The one most commonly isolated novobiocin resistant coagulase negative staphylococcus from urine is Staphylococcus saprophyticus.
