The aim of treatment in secretory otitis media is the removal of fluid and prevention of recurrence. So medical treatment alone does not help, the fluid must be surgically removed. Surgical treatment includes Myringotomy and aspiration of fluid, grommet inseion, tympanotomy or coical mastoidectomy and surgical treatment of causative factor.
