According to the new classification scheme, the eukaryotes have been classified into six clusters or "Supergroups", namely : Amoebozoa, Opisthokonta, Rhizaria, Archaeplastida, Chromalveolata and Excavata. The amoebae that parasitize the intestinal tracts of humans belong to four genera: Entamoeba, Endolimax, Iodamoeba and Blastocystis.
