Fresh frozen plasma contains components of the coagulation, fibrinolytic and complement systems and other proteins. FFP can be given without blood type-matched although agglutination reactions are possible, though very rare. There is no mention of the time period within which FFP should be given after trauma. The risks of FFP include disease transmission, anaphylactoid reactions, alloimmunization, and excessive intravascular volume, as well as transfusion-related acute lung injury and an increase in infections
