Rupture of Tendon-Achilles whether spontaneons or traumatic should be treated by surgical repair as soon as possible after the injury. Ununited tendon produces severe disability in walking as the push off is lost. If repaired later fascial or tendon graft has to be used to bridge the gap and postoperative recovery is slow and the end result is less than perfect. Ref: Maheshwari 9th ed pg 6.
