Low risk group in differential thyroid carcinoma: Men < 40 years & women < 50 years without distant metastasis All older patients with minor tumor < 5 cm in size and minor capsular involvement and no metastasis High Risk group in differential thyroid carcinoma: Distant metastasis All older patients patients with extra thyroid papillary carcinoma or follicular carcinoma with major capsule involvement with tumor 5 cm in diameter, regardless of the extent of the disease.
