Rhinitis sicca involves

Rhinitis sicca anterior means a chronic inflammation in the region of the anterior pa of the nose,affecting the anterior and caudal septum and/or the corresponding lateral nasal vestibule. It is also a crust-forming disease seen in patients who work in hot, dry and dusty surroundings, e.g. bakers, iron- and goldsmiths. Condition is confined to the anterior third of nose paicularly of the nasal septum. Here, the ciliated columnar epithelium undergoes squamous metaplasia with atrophy of seromucinous glands. Crusts form on the anterior pa of septum and their removal causes ulceration and epistaxis, and may lead to septal perforation. Ref ganong&;s review of medical physiology 25e
