Treatment of compound fracture of tibia is based on same principles as other fracture : - Antibiotic prophylaxis Urgent wound and fracture debridement. Stabilization of the fracture by internal or external fixation. Early definitive wound cover. Fracture fixation recommendation for compound tibia fractures are as follow : - Grade I  → Internal fixation by intramedullary nailing. Grade II & IIIA → Internal fixation by intramedullary nail or external fixator depending on situation. Grade IIIB & IIIC → External fixator.
