In the fed state, glucose-6-phosphate has 3 fates:- Metabolized in glycolysis Most of the surplus glucose-6-phosphate is stored as glycogen A small amount (5-10%) enters HMP shunt (produces ribulose 5-phosphate) First priority is to metabolize glucose-6-phosphate through glycolysis to fulfill energy requirement of the body.
