Tuberculosis Preventing exposure to tuberculosis is impoant when there is an infectious case in the household, in clinics and in hospitals.Adequate ventilation, masks and safe coughing procedures reduce the risk of exposure. For HIV-uninfected individuals with latent TB infection (LTBI), the lifetime risk of developing active TB due to reactivation is 8 to 10%.
