Pemphigus vulgaris is an intraepidermal bullous disorder where the split is suprabasal. Pemphigus is an autoimmune disorder characterised by the production of IgG autoantibodies against desmoglein which are involved in intercellular adhesion. These antibodies induce keratinocytes to release serine proteases which dissolve the intercellular substance.
