Greater superificial petrosal nerve joins the deep petrosal nerve to form the nerve of pterygoid canal or also called as Vidian nerve. Vidian nerve reaches pterygopalatine ganglion to supply the lacrimal gland and mucous glands of nose, palate and pharynx.
