A
Microcytic hypochromic anemia
B
Decreased TIBC
C
Increased ferritin
D
Bone marrow iron decreased earlier than serum iron
High-Yield Explanation

In iron deficiency anemia , the red cells in the blood film are hypochromic & microcytic.Hyppochromia is due to poor filling of RBC with hemoglobin so that there is increased central pallor.

TIBC is high and rises to give less than 10% saturation in iron deficiency anemia .Also serum ferritin is very low indicating poor tissue iron stores.Serum iron level will be low & when serum iron falls below 15 microgram/decilitre , marrow stores are absent.

Reference : Harsh mohan textbook of pathology sixth edition pg no 300
