Most of the oral surgeries are done in local anaesthesia. However in acute infection (infected tooth) GA is indicated as LA may not be effective because of the local change in pH and there is a risk of spreading infection. As most patients are children, sevoflurane in N2O : O2 mixture is the anaesthetic of choice for induction. Enflurane is the most suitable inhalational agent for maintenance in dental anaesthesia.
