A 60-year-old female presented to the ER with chest pain and dyspnea, along with palpitations, nausea, vomiting and few episodes of syncope. MI was suspected. This is a case of Takotsubo cardiomyopathy. Also called broken hea syndrome. More common in post-menopausal females. Myocardium is stunned in this disease. ECG shows ST elevation and anterior leads - mimics MI ECHO shows apical ballooning of the left ventricle. Occurs due to preceding emotional trigger/ stress event. DOC is Beta-blockers.
