Lighthouse sign: It means flowing out of discharge from the perforation in the tympanic membrane. The external auditory canal may obtain blood tinged discharge which later becomes mucopurulent. Usually, a small perforation is seen in anteroinferior quadrant of pars tensa. Hyperaemia of the tympanic membrane begins to subside with a return to normal colour and landmarks.
