It is a distinctive pattern of chronic inflammation characterised by aggregates of Macrophages with scattered lymphocytes. Seen in all of above except mycoplasma infection. Mycoplasma species have been isolated from women with bacterial vaginosis. M. genitalium is found in women with pelvic inflammatory disease. In addition, infection is associated with increased risk of cervicitis, preterm bih and spontaneous aboion, and infeility.
